PokerStars Boasted the Third-Largest Prize Pool in Sunday Million History
PokerStars Sunday Million
PokerStars held the quarterly $1,000 buy-in version of the Sunday Million last night, and the tournament was a tremendous success. It boasted the third-largest prize pool in Sunday Million history at $1,803,000. That's saying a lot, considering the the two leading tournaments had unfair advantages.
The Sunday Million on March 11, 2007 (a $200 buy-in event) had a prize pool of $2,101,600, but that tournament was the Sunday Million anniversary tournament, and PokerStars had upped the guarantee to $1.5 million for the occassion. The all-time Sunday Million prize-pool leader was held on May 20, 2007 (also a $200 buy-in event), and had a prize pool of $2,428,800, but that event featured $250,000 added to the prize pool in celebration of PokerStars' 1 billionth hand being dealt. With all of that in mind, the 1,802 entrants that generated the huge prize pool for last night's comparatively normal Sunday Million were vying for some not-so-normal paydays. The first-place prize was to be $354,000 if no deals were made.
Alas, a deal was, in fact, made when play got down to fourhanded. Thechemist83 was the chip leader at the time the deal was made, and he wound up heads up versus Mighty_L. Mighty_L overcame his opponent to take the title and the extra money that was on the line for the eventual winner (per the PokerStars chopping rules). Mighty_L earned a total of $253,513 for taking down the event.
The final results were:
1. Mighty_L — $253,512.75*
2. thechemist83 — $233,152.78*
3. Tulkaz — $172,145.68*
4. Dao69 — $102,714*
5. Pattymelt15 — $80,549.40
6. McShove — $60,727.40
7. NVmania — $42,707.40
8. loftus222 — $26,489.40
9. Belabacsi — $15,857.60
* Payout reflects a four-way deal made at the final table
Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee

The first-place finisher was looking at a $147,809 payday for taking down the event.
Lopola and ygga69 went head-to-head to battle it out for that huge top prize. There was a payout difference of more than $58,000 on the line. Ygga69 eventually took down the final pot of the tournament, earning himself six figures.

UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee
James 'P0KERPR033' Campbell The UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament broke back into the 900s of entrants last night after plummeting to 789 entrants on Dec. 23. Last night's event had 919 entrants, meaning UltimateBet put up an overlay of $16,200 to match the tournament's guarantee.
James "P0KERPR033" Campbell, a top-10 Card Player Online Player of the Year (OPOY) contender, made it to heads up in the tournament, where he faced matadoren7. Matadoren7 bested his foe to win the $45,000 first-place prize in the event. P0KERPR033 earned $26,500 and 400 OPOY points for his finish, which put him in fourth place on the leader board.

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
The Bodog $100,000-guaranteed tournament had 756 entrants last night, up from the 621 entrants of the week before, but still low for the year. Bodog came out of pocket for $24,400 to match the $100,000 guarantee, meaning the site fronted nearly 25 percent of the prize pool.
That sort of overlay is common for the flagship tournament at Bodog, and players who are looking for a lot of bang for their buy-in dollars may find a good fit with the tournament. Card Player has teamed up with Bodog for the last few weekends of the football season to offer free seats into the event. Click here to read a story about last week's free-seat freeroll (which was filled to capacity) and check back at CardPlayer.com on Friday to find out the password for this Saturday's freeroll.
Bigmonte87 was the player sitting with all of the chips at the end of last night's event, having eliminated karjalanpaisti heads up. He collected $25,000 for outlasting 755 other players.
The final results were:
