Absolute Poker Bad Beat Jackpots Topped $6.5M

Jackpot Has Gone on for Barely a Half a Year
Absolute Poker only launched it bad-beat jackpot in June of last year, but even so, more than $6.5 million was won in 2007 as a result of players who would normally have only a bad beat story to tell.
In August, the largest bad-beat jackpot in the history of online poker was hit after the jackpot at Absolute Poker had grown to $821,670. Individual players who have held the qualifying losing hand for the Absolute Poker jackpot have received prize amounts of $108,000, $166,000, $77,000, and $133,000, just to name a few examples. In all, the bad-beat jackpot was hit 39 times in 2007. The current jackpot sits at $168,980 as of this article's publication.
Money is awarded to all of the players sitting at a table when quad eights or better gets beaten (both cards from both players hand must be used for the hands to qualify), but a majority of the prize goes to the loser and winner of the hand.
The bad-beat jackpot kitties are built by taking 50 cents from qualifying pots on bad-beat jackpot tables. The pot builds until the jackpot is hit on one of the bad-beat jackpot tables. The jackpot kitty is constantly rising.
