363 Players Take to the Felt on Day 1B of Italian EPT
Daniel NegreanuThe PokerStars.com European Poker Tour San Remo attracted a total of 700 entrants, with 363 taking to the felt yesterday, creating a total prize pool of €3,195,860. Seventy-two players will get paid.
This is a record-breaking number for an Italian poker tournament, and it has been well-supported by the locals, who made up 35 percent of the field.
Shortly after play began, Norwegian Johnny Lodden busted, and was followed soon thereafter by American Chad Brown. Team PokerStars pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier bluffed his way out of the tournament early on and was joined on the rail by Lee Nelson and Isabelle Mercier before the dinner break, while Noah Boeken joined them after the stoppage for food.
Daniel Negreanu made it through day 1B with just his starting stack intact and will have to make some bold moves today, while Antonio Esfandiari worked his chip magic to finish the day on 56,000.
Also through to day 2 are Todd Brunson, Max Pescatori, Rob Hollink, John Kabbaj, and Juha Helppi.
