This Friday two of my friends and I drove to Oklahoma so I could play in a casino for my second time... I am posting this so I can get any input or constructive criticism.
We got there at about 12:30am and by 4:30am my initial $200 buy in at the 1-2 table turned to $773. I cashed out and took a break. Here is the biggest hand I played in that 4 hours.
Before I start I want to let you know this wasn't a typical card room, or at least the players at it. The usual raise instead of to $6 was from anywhere to $12-16 depending upon player. The reason being most players at the table were straddling.
I had a hand against a fairly aggressive player, but not crazy. He was a regular at the casino, since he lived five minutes down the road. The hand started with me under the gun I look down at AK of hearts. I straddled only a few times since I was the least experienced in live play at the table. I raised to $15 strait. The guy to my immediate left called and the the small blind also called. The small blind was the loosest player I have ever SEEN. The flop came down 933 with two hearts. With the pot at $48 the small blind bet $20 into me. I felt that he was very weak flush draw at best and wanted to push me off since I had played so tight.( I had won every hand I had played up till this point and had a very tight reputation so far) I smooth called hoping to have the player to my right fold and have position on the small blind and hopefully one of my cards. I was worried however that the small blind could of had a 3 the way he was playing. The guy to my right re-raised it to $50 strait and the small bling immediately folded. I thought about it for a min. With $138 in the pot and me having the flush draw and two overs I felt I had 15 outs and decided the pot odds were good enough for a call. With the pot at $168 the turn brought a 6 of hearts! YES my mind said. I checked and he instantly pushed. With my call he turned over a J3 of spades. The river came a blank and since I had his additional $135 covered I busted him...For then
My question is did I play this hand correctly or just get lucky for my turn? He talked about how bad of a call it was all night and I kept bringing up his weak raise.
About 5:30am I decided to buy back in at new table with $200. I sat there for a while playing tight and taking some tough beats, and some bad plays so I was sitting at about $230. An elderly man sitting two seats to my right had been there for about an hour and only played about 6 hands. He had roughly around $260. Under the gun he raised to $22 strait. I looked down at AA.. What a good time for that I not wanting the very loose players in to crack my rocket re-raised him to $50 strait knowing that for him to have raised under gun to have a strong hand that would be tough to lay down. When the action folded back to him he instantly moved all in and I called. He showed QQ and I showed him the bad news that he was 4-1 dog. The board was K Q 4 8 10....It made me wanna puke, but after about 5 minutes I made it back to table with another $200 and told him nice hand. I am glad I did cause it seemed to earn a little more respect since I took the beat without going crazy....
That last beat came at about 12:00pm and by around 4:00pm I was sitting at about $350 in chips. I was sitting at a table with two of my friends one of whom has played a lot of cash games and at higher stakes, but took us up there for fun.. He is around 23. In the big blind I looked down at QQ with a $16 dollar raise by my more solid friend. He was on button. I re-raised to $40 wanting to take it down pre-flop, since their was a straddler and 4 callers before raise. Everyone folded back to him and he called instantly. The flop came 9710 rainbow. I bet into him $40 since the pot was $101. He re-raised me to $100 strait. I thought for a long time...I had played very few pots and he had respected me through out the whole day since I was so tight. I decided he was trying to push me off and moved all in for another $210. He was sitting on a stack of about $500 on top of what he had put in...After talking the hand threw to himself he called and showed me 97 with nothing coming to help me I once again felt sick....
He came and talked to me after the hand outside and since he is a lot better off than me running his own business and all he said he was gonna give me back everything I lost and that it to be a lesson to not ever play that hand that aggressive in a cash game, but in a tournament play it would of been fine cause he would not of been in with 97.
What do yall think?
At about 9:00 pm I ran into another QQ in the big blind. With 5 limper's to the small blind, he raised to $15 strait. I was actually happy cause of how tight he had been playing and every time he had mid to low pockets he had made the same raise everytime...$15 strait. I re-raised him to $40. The action folded back to him and he sat and talked for a min said he knew I must have a pocket pair and called. The flop 1088 rainbow. He checked instantly and I laughed and said well you know I have to bet here and threw in another $40 into a $90 pot wanting him to call with his pocket pair. He instantly said all in. The rest of the table laughed and I said that is SICK... After deliberating for a few minutes I said fold and threw my cards face up exposing my QQ. Everyone except two players said I was crazy for throwing that away.....I want to know everyone's opinion on this hand before I reveal what he had....He showed the table after I folded.
Thanks for any input yall have and sry that it might of taken a year to read.
I ended the $50 down for the trip which was probably less than what I ended up tipping total and including food. We played for 24 hours with me having one hour long break... That was my first mistake but considering everything I am happy with my second time in a casino.
Thanks,
