I really don't know if I should post this in the Bragging Rights or Bad Beats, but here goes. Monday night I just made the cut off for the pot limit game being the 99th out of 99 ppl to register, Literally made the tournament by 30 secs or so.
So anyway 27 ppl or so left, the tournament is going great til I get JJ and throw out a monster bet to scare everyone out. I get one caller and the flop comes Q59 I went all in hoping he didnt have the Q and he did. He called a 3000 bet when the bb was 300 with Q6 and he also wasnt big or small blind, pissed me off. Left me with 268 in chips and the bb came around and put me all in and my T8 caught four of a kind tens and kept me in the game. Then an allin with AKs gave me a little time.
Getting dealt pocket 8's was a huge turning point. the flop came KQ8 all of diamonds. I decided this was the hand to go big or broke on went all in and got 4 callers. no one hit a flush or str8 and my trips held up against 2 pair kings and queens. this hand gave me 22,000, putting me in 3rd or 4th in chips and it was smooth sailing to the final 2.
heads up started very even 71k to 77k, cant remember who was ahead. i was playing great poker against what i deemed to be a fairly loose player and couldn't wait to take it to him. Then the internet went out in my building OMG!! (not only that it was out for a 2 hour period, before that i had only lost connection twice for about 40 seconds in the past 7 months. so you can imagine how irate i was.) I was finally able to get my girlfriend to download bodog and sign on, and tell me over the phone what the cards and bets were. by then i had been blinded out of 20k. this sucked, being frustrated and having to deal with my girlfriends poor commentary on the phone led to a ridiculous all in and loss. but i still took 2nd and won $99. really should have won but i will definitely take the 2nd payout.
