Finished 6th out of 180 winning $50.00 not bad for a 2 dollar buy-in.
Hit a hell of a streak of cards to give me the chips to make the final table AK vs A3 I hit the 3 on the flop knocking the all in out. Next hand someone goes all in in my small blind I have AQ off suit I call for half my stack thinking he has a medium pocket pair and I just came off winning a race. Flop comes K78 so I figure it is defense all in mode but as Lee Corso would say "NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!!!!" I hit runner runner queen!!!!! I was 1 % going into the turn and 4% going into the river!!!!
The final table was rough played some paint that maybe I shouldn't have and then was card dead for the most part but I was the chip leader at one point before the final table!
Got knocked out with AQ vs KK Q came on the flop I had top pair and pushed and he had KK.
I have this league to thank for this win and all of you guys. That's why I put so much into this because I know it does help people and to me its a ton of fun.
So thanks to all of you for making me better.
Jay

That away Jay...Ur Back.
It is an awesome article...it is just important to protect your bankroll as well as build it. So many players win win a couple of hundred $$$ and it is gone and more in a week or 2. Now they have to reload again.
It is better to win a little consitantly than lose alot...keep it in perspective.

Just to drive that message home a little more, I have been talking to a guy on Absolute who won $37,500 in the $150K guarantee about 7 months ago...I didn't believe him so I checked the poker db and sure enough he actually did win....He said he's been playing the $3/6 tables since then and has less than a $1000 in his account!!!
Stories such as this are more common than you may realize. The sad fact is that while many folks are GREAT poker players, they are horrible at managing money!
Since my big wins on absolute, I have slightly increased my buy-ins, but have only allow myself to lose a certain percentage of my entire bankroll per day (4%). If I go below that number, I quit for the day. this fosters discipline and steady growth as opposed to random wins and major losses.
I don't want to be the guy who wins nearly $40K and will soon be scratching his arse wondering where all his money went...
"A wise man learns from the mistakes of others...A fool learns from his own!"
All In,
Randy C~
