We have all heard that position gives you great leverage in the game of poker. We all know that being the last to act in the hand is a huge advantage. But few people understand how to improve their position. When you are in late position and you have one player ahead of you that limps in, raise 2x blind and steal that button. You may get the Big Blind to call and the player in middle position. Now you have position and are the last to act. Flop comes check check...you throw out another 2x bet. They think you must have made your hand or have over pair. They both fold you rake in the pot. Excuse me I am off to steal me some Buttons. ;D ;D ;D ;D TBone

That is an awesome tip, and one that I employ as well. The only modification that I would add is that you should only apply this technique when you have semi-decent cards to good cards. In other words...playable cards. I have seen so many times a person try to use this strategy with cards like 10 4 os, and in my opinion that is a mistake. Hands that are perfect for this scenario are small pocket pairs, but other cards such as A x, and any 2 face card connectors can be employed here as well.
Stealing the button is a fantastic way to improve your chip count in a slow but progressive way. I also find that this kind of strategy works best when you are playing before tight players. Often those tight players will fold to your second bet just as TBone suggests. If one or more players to your left are loose callers, then be careful...Sometimes they will call you all the way down to the river.
TBone is a wealth of poker knowledge and it is important for our new members to keep a very close eye on his style of play. If you want to make money at poker, and I know you do, then watch him carefully. His strategy and tips are top notch and we are so fortunate to have a player of his caliber with us in our league!
All In,
