Ever heard the saying, "First impressions are lasting ones"? Well, in poker that saying holds true, too! Think about it...We all form opinions about certain people at a table we're playing at; that guy is tight, that woman is a bluffer; that guy only plays premium hands, etc...
Table image is a crucial factor, and much more important than many give it credit. In fact, many times we base the decisions we make on that early opinion we draw on in early rounds of play. NOW...That is what brings me to my next point. Manipulating table image.
If we know ahead of time the perception that others have about our own table image, perhaps we can use it to sway people's decisions the way we want; in our favor.
Here's an example: If we are ordinarily tight players, I suggest playing it off like you are a loose player in the beginning rounds when the blinds are low and it won't cost you much. Throw a few recognizable bluffs out there...show those bluffs, and let people THINK that you are an easy target. Then when you get a solid hand in later rounds, you will get callers. Why not? They saw that you were a fish...They'll be trying to set the hook on you.
This is just a basic way of maipulating other players, but it works, and I suggest you give it a shot. It may even double you up from time to time!
All In,
