From www.pokerlistings.com/uk-will-extradite-to-us-despite-legalizing-online-gamblingU.K. will extradite to U.S. despite legalizing online gamblingThough Britain is leading efforts to regulate and create an international code of conduct for the online gambling industry, the nation will still extradite executives in the industry if the United States asks it too.
Sports Minister Richard Caborn stated Britain's position on the issue during the summit near London. He said the British government won't acknowledge people who operate illegally in the online gambling industry and they must abide by the laws of particular country.
In accordance with that policy, the U.K. will still respect extradition requests from the U.S. in relation to online gambling.
Caborn along with Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell have been working at the summit with other nations to come to an agreement on standards for online gambling sites such as online casinos and online poker rooms. The United Kingdom has put laws in place to license and regulate the businesses instead of banning them.
Jowell has already expressed her displeasure with the United States' decision to ban online gambling, calling it a modern-day prohibition.
She said regulation was the better course of action for the industry because outlawing it could drive the business underground and into criminal hands.
