Main Event Prize Pool Exceeded $1.6 Million
The B.C. Poker Championship ended earlier this week with a $2,700 main event that attracted 643 players to the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, B.C., Canada. The prize pool amounted to $1.61 million, and Daniel Idema took the top prize of $402,500.
The following are the top 10 finishers:
1. Daniel Idema -- $402,500
2. Jason Dong -- $250,355
3. Bradley Birarda -- $156,170
4. Robert Marwood -- $112,700
5. Zachary Fellows -- $88,550
6. Richard Prokopetz -- $70,840
7. Michael Brigante -- $57,960
8. Tam Tang -- $45,080
9. Robert Miruci -- $34,615
10. Richard Kosterman -- $25,760
The main event was preceded by three preliminary events. The first was a $550 buy-in no-limit hold’em ladies-only event. A total of 201 women fought for a $100,000 prize pool. Paula Stregger won the first-place prize of $30,000. The $1,100 buy-in no-limit open event saw a field of 592 entrants. In the end, Brian Joslin won the title along with $148,000. The last preliminary event was the $1,100 buy-in pot-limit hold’em tournament. It had a turnout of 241 entrants, and Scott Craig won $63,500 for first.
