Aussie Millions Poker Series Has Two More Winners

The Aussie Millions continued this week with its preliminary events, and the two latest events were won by native Australians. But as the buy-ins begin to grow, so do the number of foreigners making their mark at the Crowne Casino.
Jamie Pickering of Gold Coast, Australia, won event No. 4, an AUD $1,000 limit hold’em tourney with 123 entries. He won AUD $39,358. This event, like all of the preliminary events, was Australian-heavy. The top eight finishers of this event were from Australia, and half of those were from Melbourne, which is where the Aussie Millions is taking place. The total prize-pool for event No. 4 was AUD $123,000
Event No. 5, an AUD $1,000 no-limit hold’em event with rebuys, attracted 150 entrants and generated 376 rebuys to build a prize pool of AUD $526,000. The winner, Michael Pedley, of Perth, Australia, won AUD $168,320.
With three players out of the final eight hailing from Australia, this event again represented the poker-crazed country well. But three players from the United States also made the top eight: Larry Karambis finished third (AUD $57,860), Anna Wroblewski finished seventh (AUD $21,048), and David Bach finished eight (AUD $15,780).
Michael Binger is the chip leader of the sixth event, a AUD $1,650 no-limit hold'em bounty event. The final table takes place tomorrow. Binger has 393,000 in chips, followed by Marlin Goonawardana, with 322,000; Kim Peart with 311,000; David Kruger with 236,000; Josh Egan with 225,000; Ramy Tadros with 162,500; Steve Leonard with 145,000; and Jeppe Nielson with 56,000.
A AUD $3,250 pot-limit Omaha with rebuys event starts on Friday. There are 20 total events scheduled for the Aussie Millions. The six-day AUD $10,000 main event starts Monday.
